1. Organizational Capacity Assessment and Training (OCAT)

SPARD Africa’s OCAT is meant to provide a 360° – capacity assessment of institutions. This
program helps to establish institutional capacities, strengths and weaknesses followed by
action planning for capacity improvement. It also enables the organization to reflect on its
processes and functions, risks and mitigation measures, areas that require capacity
development, suitability of an institution in the achievement of project goals as well as for
sustainability planning. The assessment generates baseline information about the institutions
against which changes brought by the project/partnership can be measured in the future. To the
financial service provider, the information can be used to help in appraising the institutions
before approving loans. For the institution itself, this assessment assists in determining areas to
improve on for better positioning in the market and also informing the underlying factors
behind the current performance.

How do we do the health Check?

  • Our qualified assessors administer a set of assessment tools to the institution’s representatives.
  • Our assessment tools are designed to measure all business systems that include:
    Financial management, business performance, leadership and governance, structures and systems, human resources, internal compliance and sustainability.
  • We use simple formats to analyse the information collected, for the institutions
  • We draw recommendations showing what needs to be done and how, before
    presenting to the institution and facilitating organizations
  • When requested and where appropriate, SPARD Africa prepares a customized capacity building plan which provides a road map for implementation of the recommendations

2. Training in Organizational Development:

We provide training to leaders, human resource executives, managers and staff to help organizations and companies improve efficiency, drive revenue growth, and retain talented employees. We custom-make training programs in the following areas:

3. Development of Organizational structures and systems

Well defined organizational systems and processes are important for any organization to achieve efficiency, productivity and effective decision-making. We work with organizations to develop important systems such as finance, production, operations, HR, etc.  Such sub-systems work interdependently and for the common good of the total system. For each of the organizational system, we develop appropriate tools like policies, manuals, guidelines among others to enhance system functioning.

4. Strategic Planning:

We recognize the importance of strategic plans to clarify organization direction, identify a common vision, solve problems, and/or achieve goals, keeping pace with changing client needs, funding, and setting program priorities. We use a very participatory process to take our clients through a thorough scanning of their internal and external environments, in order to come up with a clear strategic direction needed for the growth of the company/organization/institution. We support in the review of strategic plans for organizations, to inform our clients of the progress made in the implementation of strategic plans, any changes in the external and internal environments which are affecting the implementation of the strategic plans and undertaking review of targets to ensure they are
realistic, Specific , Measurable and achievable.
